can it hurt any of these appliances when u turn the strip on? My bf seems to think that surge of power is not good for the tv/computer. I asked him, "Isn't that what a surge protector is for?" (so things don't get damaged if the power goes out...and then a surge of power goes thru when the power is turned back on) please help!! I think the strip should be turned off at night....he does not! How much electricity does it save? Also does it hurt for the wireless router to stay on continuously & doesn't that waste electricity? It's plugged into a surge protector that I forgot to turn off while working on the electricity. I had to turn the circuit breaker on and off a few times, and now it's not giving off a wireless signal. The regular cable modem that came with my internet is saying it has a signal, but my computer isn't getting a signal and the little light on the wireless modem is a solid color instead of flashing. I've tried resetting it and unplugging it for 20 seconds at a time, but still nothing. Is it broken? Or do I just need to leave it unplugged longer? Thanks! Witricity: explain witric..

For some reason, at 12:30am, every day, and without fail, the router loses its signal, and it doesn't reconnect unless I switch it off for at least half an hour.
I know what causes it, but I have no idea why. Our electricity meter switches from daytime power to nighttime power at 12:30am, and it's when that switch clicks over, the router goes mad.
